Homeless

Homeless

Why don’t you see me,
When you walk down the street?
Why don’t you hear me?
I’m the one at your feet.
Yes you, now you’re looking.
Won’t you look in my eyes.

They do not tell lies.
I’m tired and I’m thirsty,
Haven’t eaten for days.
But I know all you think
Is I sit here and laze.
ā€˜Go out, get a job’
Is what you all say.
But do you think
I would be here
If I thought
That would pay?
For the price of survival
Is costly, I know.
And all I have left
Is this poor one-man show

Emma, well written, I like how you highlight the lack of understanding and compassion some people have.Ā
