An Honorable Rock

Destiny has come to mark our land, our voyage in life
Our spirit now rests, upon an honorable rock, it will never leave
It is the strength of our soul, the ages of our skin, the meaning of peace
The hawk has flown by, and now it lands over head, and watches
This rock, is my bones, my blood, now dried upon its many battles
Where my people gathered, we made flames from the fire, and we bed
Leaving only bits and pieces of memory behind, the furs on our back
The legacy of our creative hands, the arrowheads, the clay pots, each broken
In time, though, the horses whisper in the night, and the owl has spoken
Now, I bring the feathers of the crow, and lay them upon the rock, as we walk in stride
To the many who surrendered, and to the many, who never gave up, our heads high, in pride
The moon will reflect the shadow of my face, and it will never die, it will know pain
It will know the reason, for the treaty may have been broken, but the stone has not shattered
Our feet have passed, so, shall our native hearts, so, shall the wind upon the sky
An honorable rock, the coming together, in strength, and honor, only this shall matter
Never to live without faith, never to die without food, never to starve
