Hope

Hope

Finally the fog is beginning to lift.
For so long it has suffocated me and prevented me from seeing not only my current surroundings, but also what lies ahead. When the weather is dull, it's dullness creeps into everything else. The rain drops snaking down the window mirrored the inside of my head. But now, I am beginning to see rays of light penetrating the cloud. They force their way through, ripping apart the darkness and slowly warm my bones. My damp, dripping skull begins to dry up. My arid veins welcome the blood which begins to run through them. My heart begins to defrost. The grey surroundings, which held no interest, gradually develop hints of colour. With just one ray of sunlight comes hope and promise. I can do this. I have been dormant for so long but now I feel rejuvenated. For the first time in a long time, I can see the road ahead. I will my feet to move. I beg my brain for help. Before I know it, I am strolling down that road with my head held high and the sun on my face, and it feels absolutely wonderful.
