Hope for Spring

Once upon a time, there was summer,
Warm and carefree days,
Of Peace and plenty,
Where I sat by the river and enjoyed simple things,
the kiss of wind,
the warmth of the sun,
the smell of the grass,
the simple beauty of the willow.
Once upon a time there was fall,
The time of turning, changes,
Watching the land burst in fiery passions,
the starbursts of color to warm the growing chill,
Freshly tilled earth being lain to the harvest,
Picking apples with my Friends and Family,
Joyous and cherry-nosed,
momentarily oblivious to the wrongs of the world,
Then there was winter,
Were once merry hearths lay fallow,
Once glowing with warmth, long cold,
Ice coating the world,
frozen and unmoving,
keeping it in wait for better times,
I still sit by the frozen river,
The ice heavily laden on pine and Grass,
I ponder on life,
but find no answers,
in the place where once I played,
An old booming voice my only companion,
on the swing, strong Hands pushed me,
Β in the river,
strong arms to hold me from harm.
I am alone on the riverbank,
staring Into the swirling waters,
steel grey and thrashing,
what is there to do but wait,
and Hope for Spring.
