Poem -

HOPEFULLY STILL INSANE --

BARFLY IN A RAINBOWS REFRAIN

Coldwater
blunt razor
broken nose for a hellraiser
out of time
out of place
still-running a finished race
didn't see you until you brought that dress
now you are see-through like all the rest
lived too long and my tombstones gone
whisky bottles spinning round
wallpaper laughs from yesterday's news

Insane cannot retain
all the expected explanations remain
sliced the dice rolled to thick
beaten with my own
walking stick
no angels dressed in rags
polythene or plastic bags
just repeated innocence on display

folded notes the music bled
brought me home in the hearse instead
now I lay free in place
 edge of disgrace
skies above collected clouds
sewn me a mystical shroud
buried deep where the wicked weep
lost among the scented plough

Roses blessed by my blood
leaving traces miss understood
lovers came and grew again
I remain hopefully
insane
