Horrible Blessings In Disguise

Horrible Blessings In Disguise

It may take one thing to destroy another -
now that the virus is heading towards Assad's desk,
Iran have halted their nuclear programme,
although Kim couldn't resist sending off two missiles.

The poor people of Yemen do not need this,
but it may clear out the militia nevertheless,
gangs in Cape Town are now suddenly uniting,
and perhaps so many others will stop fighting.

Knife crime in London has become much less,
we're letting prisoners out early to stop the spread,
our families are doing things they never did before,
in future, we shouldn't just disappear into our mobile once more.

When it's over - let's not just return to our silly ways,
let's learn from this for all of our remaining days.

Being Me

Indeed! Let us all learn from this! It already feels like the world has got smaller as we unite against this virus. The only common enemy that the world has at the moment. May it unite us all. Forever. Something good has to come from all this bad x

I like how you pointed out very specific details like the region and about the war that is going on behind closed doors. The ending was my favorite part. You did an excellent job in describing the subject matter.

Favorite part:

When it's over - let's not just return to our silly ways,
let's learn from this for all of our remaining days

I think we will have learned a story that will be passed down to hundreds of generations to come, that at any time of day or season we could all become the victim of a deadly new virus. But maybe in the future, there will be a new stock pile of respirators and lots of children who used their time to be home schooled to become the next doctors and paramedics.

Great poem.
You made me think.

Stay healthy for the next generation...
