Poem -

Hostage

I think not for myself,

but for one life taken

I feel so alive

but so close to death.

Forgetting myself for a moment,

wandering to a distance

I think only of them

those that I was with....

When I step back to you

so filled with life.

Give me not your sympathy,

but to those still hostage

as they walk not the shadow of death,

but the blindness of terrorism.

Focus on them, your sympathy,

for now, I am free................

Dedicated to my son that served as a Marine in Iraq, and the brothers that were not as lucky.
