HOW COULD WE KNOW

HOW COULD WE KNOW

How could we know
Of God's tender care

Of His mercies, His grace
Without burdens to bear
How could we see
God's glorious light
If we never struggled in darkness
Never saw night

How could we feel
His comfort, His love
If we never felt pain
Or the afflictions, He speaks of

If we never crossed troubled seas
Walked in valleys, low
Never climbed steep mountains
How then could we know
Was it not the effort
The struggle, the strain
When we felt His strength

His grace, to endure pain
Let me cross troubled seas
Walk in valleys, low
Climb steep mountains

So that I too, may know
