Poem -

How he held me

In the whole group of people, he walked up to me.Β
He talked to me.Β
Standing there in front of him I felt safe
I felt like I was being swept off my feet
suddenly the lights went out.Β
his hand pulled my waist up against the tableΒ
his other arm clung to my back holding me softly, but with strength.Β
Butterflies filled up my inside as we talked in the dark so close.Β
I turned to him and his hand stayed, we were so close.Β
then the lights went on abruptly.Β
I was sure he’d step away once the lights went on but he didn’t move.Β
His hand still lingered on my back holding me as my friends came up to say hi.Β
He held me so securely I had never felt so safe.Β
That was when I knew.Β
