Poem -

I am...

I am...

Through your frosted window you see the moon, a burning, flickering firefly, and wipe away the moistness on the pane to search for stars...but you don’t see me, for, I am the spaces in-between, I am the blackamoor sky...invisible vapour....untouchable -

At the edge of the land, the fish flash and glint from the sun’s rays, you squint to search for shells, crunching beneath your feet...but, you can’t see me, for, I am the ocean, clear and translucent, slipping through your fingers, disappearing to nothingness -

In the fields of lush green, the deep pile carpet stretching before you, breathing in the fragrance as you search for flowers...but, you won’t see me, for, I am the whisper of a butterflies wings, I’m here, there, and nowhere, but carried away on the breeze -

From your bookcase you take down a heavy old volume, and stroking the cover you blow away the dust, you see a book...but, you’ll never see me; you could have coloured me with your beautiful words, instead I lay untouched, my pages blank, my story untold -

Wandering through the streets, a million faces pass you by, you search for me, in each and everyone...but, you will never find me, because you lost me long ago, when our parallel paths divided, you took your old road, and I, went into the unknown -Β
