I AM A POET

I AM A POET

I AM A POET

I am a poet.
For the longest time
I never said those words aloud.
Only whispered them in my head,
'Til they caught me unaware
And reached my heart, unbowed.
They opened a door
I didn't know was there
And the whole world poured in.
I couldn't close that door
Against the flood and flow
So I drifted and swam,
Ā Dived in words, rhythm and rhyme.
Got to know who I am.
Met my muse face to face
For the very first time.
In the tintinnabulation
Of our glorious elation
I gave my muse parole
To meld with my soulĀ
And we shouted
I AM A POET.
