I AM SADNESS.
An entity known as sadness
swallows beings whole
enveloping every inch
of mind, body and soul.
Tossed into the void
Lost, you lay and wait
for the curse that’s about
to drown you in doubt
as its victims succumb to fate.
Sinking teeth soon enter deep
tears swell without warning.
Punishing prey, dealing dismay
is how sadness comes into mourning.
Creating a cast of comrades,
meet anxiety and depression.
An unremorseful force,
an army of sorts,
wielding mental weapons.
Escape is not an option.
There is no exit now.
Simply grin and bear
the utter despair
as sadness takes a bow.
And on that note
a silent vote
sends sadness an order to leave.
Set free, finally
in an atmosphere
I can breathe.
An entity once known as sadness
no longer maintains that name
but I have a feeling
it will return
with an even graver game.

This is dark and despondent poetry writing at its finest.
Good use of many poetic devices, such as slant, or near rhyme, internal rhyme, enjambment, and many others.
