Poem -

I Burn So Bright

Don't I shine so bright?
Don't I flicker just right?
Don't you love how I light the way?
Don't you feel safe as I chaise the gloom away?

Don't you love how I burn for you?
Don't you love all I do for you?
Glowing embers dance just to make you smile
So close to the flame you'll grow too hot in while

Soon you will stop feeding me, stop urging me to grow
Soon you'll be asking me to be less than I am and burn low
Soon you'll move back, my charms, in your eyes, growing old
You'll avert your gaze from the smokey haze and wait for me to grow cold
