I CALLED YOU A FRIEND...

what do I call you now?

I CALLED YOU A FRIEND...

We’re introduced, I make fun of you we laugh, we bond.
We stay in touch talk now and then we have the same friend group.
I’m awake you’re hurting everyone else is sleeping, you message me I help fix you.
You thank me, we bond some more, become good friends.
We talk more, almost everyday.
I ring you we laugh, we tease, we bully each other but we know it’s not serious.
I’m hurting I ring you, I cry, you reassure me, you comfort me, I’m grateful...I trust you.
Your family love me, I fit in I start to feel at home.
We celebrate milestones together, we help each other we have adventures, you’re my best friend.
I text, you take a while to reply, you eventually reply, we don’t talk for very long.
I text, you take a few days to reply, you’re busy, that’s okay.
I’m broken, I call you...you don’t pick up, I sit and break some more...
I message, you don’t answer,
I call, you don’t pick up,
It’s gone, no more adventures, no more late night calls, no more funny texts, no more goofy pictures...
I’m losing you, it’s all just memories now, fuzzy pictures but I’m happy for you...really I am, you’re not broken anymore, you’re fixed and you’re happy...I’m grateful one of us is...

Being Me

The broken sing together and they sing their sad songs well. But the time often comes when one gets fixed before the other and they head off to become solo, leaving their old friend behind still singing their sad songs. Your poem, here, reminds of that so much. 5 stars for you!  x
