I called you Digger

I called you Digger
Because as a pup
In the garden you would dig
For worms and bugs and slugs

But what a fine little dog you made
My best friend, every where with me you came
We had a book of walks
Be it sun or wind or rain

And our favourite place was by the sea
You would run and swim for a stick
That's where our hearts would feel free

Now I cannot believe
How time has passed us by
I watched you grow old and a little slow
I fear its time to say good bye

Just one last trip my little friend
To a place you got to know
Because your little body
Is just to poorly to mend

So now your at peace Dig
We had to set your spirit free
And if there's beaches in heaven Dig
I know that's where you'll  be

Was once a happy place

I used to have a little place
Where I could just be me
A humble field that didn't belong...
