I DON'T THINK THEY UNDERSTAND

I don’t think they understand the pain
And unless it’s been you, I don’t think anyone can understand the shame
I’ve seen it first hand
How it destroys man
I know someone who lost their brother to it
I met someone who just lost their mother the first time she tried to doing it
Silently and soft
Its killing them all off
Those same ones who never had a habit
Now they too got to have it
Prescription drugs
Has turned into this heroin love
And it made its way into the classroom
When someone’s son overdosed in the bathroom
And It’s all getting a little too hectic
Narcan for the resurrected
The epidemic has gotten crazy
A young girl died last week and they couldn’t save the baby
Tomorrow doesn’t look promising
And I’m not going to sit here and promise a thing
Because It's not over by far
The other day they found a teacher slumped over in her car
And now we're all wondering who will go next
Suffering this lonely death
These days are cold and the nights are  getting colder
And I'm walking around like I got a bad chip on my shoulder
Because my homie just lost his girlfriend
And I'm wondering if this pain will ever end?
Two parents in the front seat of a car slowly dying
Their child in the back seat crying
And you tell me how to stop the hurt
Someone please tell what the hell works
Because someone died today
And for me thats not okay
We all live life with a story to tell
And I've seen the destruction under the cities el
And how does one have a plan?
I don't think they understand l!
