I drink the pain from your chest

I drink the pain from your chest

Sparing not a single drop of you,
I drink the pain from your chest
You sizzle through my throat
In an acidic brew

I like you when you smile the best
So don’t make that face
All of your heartache is mine to erase
My love, my lips, to devote

If only, if only
I could taste everybody´s aching
Selfish me, who can’t stand the thought of you breaking
Of being lonely

Oh, my voice won´t last for long now
Burnt and overfed from empathy
One last time, I ask, breathlessly,
To drink the pain from your chest
Doing what I do best

Ah, but in the end
It seems I´ve only burdened you instead
Drinking your pain only to return it
My body too broken to mend

You´re pouring out, I´m sorry, in colours red
From my chest, burst open and split
Shedding everything I promised not to shed
You must hate such a hypocrite

Sorry.
