I HAVE LEARNED

I HAVE LEARNED

I have learned
As time goes on
That most things variously
Break,
Break up
Break down.
Burn down,
Flood
Fall to pieces.
Fall apart.
Go missing,
Go bust.
Or go wrong.
So it goes.

I sigh, but it goes on
And on.
And on...
And on.

Life is like driving down
A narrow winding
Country road
In thick fog:

One false move
And it goes wrong.
God, what have you done?

What was the point
Of killing your only son?
Who knows?
