Poem -

I loved them

I miss the baby
That was never given a name
I miss the baby I never held
I miss the small toddler,
whose first steps, wont be taken
I miss the cries
That won't wake me up at night
And the laughs
That would distract from work
I miss the blond hair
And maybe his blue eyes
Her sweet smile when she could have held her first kitten
Dads smile as he gains another helper
And grandma's grin as she shops for baby girl clothes again.
All these possibilities
That we can never know.
We can never hold them
Watch their fist steps
Hear their words
For they were taken,
Before we could have loved them
I wished I could have loved them.
