I Never Imagined

I never imagined
for every step forward
in life
I would find myself
three steps back

I never imagined
that once I was
given a Royal Flush
My next hand
would draw a bust

I never imagined
she would stick
with this dreamer
especially with
all the speed bumps
that comes our way
Yet she knows
the road less travelled
by its very nature
is never smooth

I never imagined
that when my
dad told
me that there
would be Crossroads
in life
that I would encounter
them at every turn

I never imagined
that the passage
to the promise land
would feel more
like the Road To Perdition

However
with all is said and done
I can imagine
that the biblical character
"Job"
felt the same way..............................
