I Remember...

I Remember...

Here it is spring,
but I lie as snow;
as frost.
Everything white,
bare walls merge
with a blank ceiling.
Outside, the tulips
scream of summer,
but here in my
snowed-in heart
it is eternal winter.

Then, I remember...
I remember your smile...
a smile that could
annihilate an arctic wilderness.

I remember your eyes..
eyes that took my breath away...
suffocating me slowly...
much slower than
an existence without you.

I remember your touch
that cut so deep...
deep under the layers
of my skin...
submerged
immersed
sunk...
until I knew not where
you ended...
and I, begun.

I remember these things...
these things of you,
even though we've never met...

I remember them all...
from my dreams.
