Poem -

I REMEMBERED

The 5th of September, how can I forget
Even if I become a victim of dementia
I will never forget the 5th of September

The day you were born
The woman I fell in love with
Now the one I will forever scorn

Trying so hard to forget the wrongs
I've already destroyed the copy of our vows
And our wedding song

Eleven years of lies and deceit
Something in life I will never repeat
Five years now since the divorce
And my life is finally getting back on course

You called him boss
But with my heart I paid the cost
Late night catching up on extra work
Looking back on those days
Trusting you fashioned me into a jerk

But it's all over now
You've managed to marry him somehow
And as long as I shall live
I will always remember
My first love was born and died
On the 5th of September.
Happy birthday!

Wilford Barker.

Thanks so much my friend..
I can truly say this was my first true love..
even though it's been 5 years ended... the pain circles my heart
like a 747 running out of fuel, circling the airport and ready to land.
i have come a long way.. but not there yet.. wherever there is.
I so wish I could write about love in a positive way like so many great writers on cosmofunnel.. but my experience of love is that of hurt, pain, sadness, defeat, anger and the like.. Nevertheless... life goes on .. and day by day I try really hard to leave the past behind.. Then comes the 5th of September... lol... smh.
