Poem -

I Watched

I watched two donkeys for years next door
I watched them being chased - German Shepherd running them hard
I watched as they ran - shots from a BB Gun hitting their skin
I watched as they were left behind and started to get thin
I watched them realize hay was being thrown over the fence
I watched them wait - same place/same time everyday for me

I watched the new owners tie them to a tree
I watched them 3 days - rope burns I could see
I watched them looking at me - wishing I could give them hay to eat
I watched them being tied to the back of a truck
I watched them being dragged terrified down my driveway

I watched them grazing and eating hay everyday
I watched them starting to run and play
I watched fear leave them - spoiled indeed
I watched them turn into Happy Donkeys living with me

Now I watch them everyday running to me
When I Yell:

Come on Hank and Pete
Hanky -- Petey
Come On Boys!
Let's get some hay!

Tomorrow will be another great day!

In The Life of Two Donkeys!

Named Hank and Pete!

My Babies Your Here To Stay!

Some people shouldn't be given the opportunity of responsibility over another living thing. I am so glad they got their happy forever home with you. xxx

Thank you Lucy,
That is so true. Animals are such a blessing and give so much. I jumped the fence and got a puppy out if a puddle of water in December from them. They have moved and I am so glad. Thanks again. God Bless...

Dear Terry,

This one is so beautiful.  Being a lover of animals, it brought a tear to my eyes.
Great write.  Here is my poetic take.

She pinned the "bales" on the Donkeys
Where others had failed so
Now, instead of saddened faces
Their smiles are all aglow

.
For Hank and Pete are happy
They have found their truest love
With this lady who returns it
Sent down from stars above

Love,
Larry xxx

Dear Terry,

Nothing like a happy "hee-haw", to bring a smile to one's face, and joy to one's heart.
Bravo for you, and all your rescue efforts.

Love,
Larry xxx

Larry,
I smile everytime they Bray at me! Animals give much more than I could ever give. I was 17 when I left home and had to move back home to take care of vet bills from a dog I rescued. Her name was sugar and we loved her so much there was a Sugar 2 and Sugar 3! Take Care... Love, Terry Kay

Johnny, thank you.  It was heartbreaking to watch the cruelty and I called on them to animal cruelty for years. Sometimes I just can't understand people. Love to you Johnny.
