Poem -

I will not arrest her for assault

You expect me to enforce a law that I detest.
You expect me to place a woman under arrest.
She threw and hit her husband with an empty pack of cigarettes.
You want me to arrest her for assault, how stupid can you get?
This is so dumb, I won't arrest her, I absolutely refuse.
You say if I don't, my job is something that I'll lose.
I believe in enforcing the law but not when it's this ignorant.
You won't like what I'm about to tell you because it's blunt.
I won't arrest that woman even though it means that I'll lose this badge of mine.
I quit, you can take my badge and stick it where the sun doesn't shine!

(This is a fictional poem but I really do know a woman who was arrested for this very thing.)
