If and if

If fate were a kind sort
Then life would be so easy
There would be no love
Therfore no pain

If life was a straight path
Then the heart would navigate
With eyes wide open
With everything to gain

If happiness were free
Then I would know which way
In which to direct
My open hands aflame

If you were not my heart
Then love would not exist
Between the pages of this book
That I have bound in chains
