If I were Great?

If I could love like Jesus, I would be followed like Moses

I would walk like Abraham and Rule like Augustus

make plans like Ben Franklin and invent like Edison

with a mind that unwinds like Einstein, all of this would make sense

If I could talk like Shakespeare and write like Mr. Poe?

But, in my world I was rocked by Elvis and the Beatles,

I was taught by Lassie and the Lone Ranger.

Just when I believed that Love was free and the earth was round,

I was shocked to hear that John Kennedy had been shot down!

That Martin Luther King had been killed for saying that; "All men are free and equal in the eyes of the Lord!"

Now, I am as socially confused as Bob Dylan singing the 'Blues'  with an electric guitar.
