I’m wondering why god took you from my life
And why did it hurt more than someone
Stabbing me over and over again
With a sharp pointed knife
Why they say “time heals pain”
When I don’t think I could ever feel the same
I look up to the stars and I hope to feel warm
My mind spirals out of control
Creating a windy, heavy storm
Tears start steaming down my face
Like the rain raging from the sky
I try to prevent it, laugh it away
But nothing can erase the pain I felt that day
I hardly sleep because you are all I see
Your face in my mind staring back at me
You had a passion for music
A care for nature
A strong love for animals
You absolutely adored my nan, your wife
You were an amazing man
Who will always hold a place in my mind
I promise to carry you with me always
No one gets left behind.

When we lose someone we love dearly—be it because of death due to an accident or illness, or they simply decide to up and walk out of our life one day—they take a piece of us with them.
❝I look up to the stars and I hope to feel warm

It tears a hole in the fabric woven into our hearts.
And, just like any fabric can be repaired, those holes can be stitched and patched-up too, eventually.
But no matter how good a seamstress one is, and no matter how well the tear is repaired, the evidence that there was once a tear there still remains.
In other words, it leaves scars and scars never disappear completely.
That's my take on love and loss, Grace.
I am sorry you had to endure such a loss.
