IN THE COOL EMBRACE
a flame does ignite

In the frost's embrace, a flame does ignite,
Where warmth overwhelms, in chill's respite.
Yet, how to quench it, when water's own embrace,
Seems aflame, in this icy space?
I stand in stillness, frozen in time's hold,
My slumber stretched through ages untold.
Sun's rays dare not breach this secluded sphere,
To melt the ice, I yearn for warmth sincere.
The cold convinces, warmth's presence near,
Stripped bare, I stand, trembling with fear.
Yet, motion eludes me, in icy embrace,
Breath turns to labor, lungs encased in grace.
A mummified state, neither alive nor dead,
In this frigid realm, where dreams are led
