In Whispered Haze

In Whispered Haze

~ In Whispered Haze ~

Were you just here in whispered haze;
was that your gentle kiss I felt?
Were those your eyes which held my gaze
and caused my broken heart to melt?

It seems like only yesterday
you held me closeβ€”so safe and warm.
We laughed and loved our days away;
we weathered every surging storm.

Was that your voice here in the dark
Β whispering my name discreetly?
And, was it real or just a larkβ€”
scents of you washed o'er sweetly

It couldn't beβ€”for you're not here;
foul fate soon stole your love from me.
Yet still, I sense your presence nearβ€”
it's everywhere, your face I see.

Your smile, it's changedβ€”so broad and grim;
blank stares replaced azure blue eyes.
It is not you whose comeβ€”but Him...
there is no need now for disguise.

I must now take his hand and go,
tho' I'll return on winter days.
In morning's mist, as white as snow
adrift on woeful whispered haze...

I love this Dean, if I may... β€œHim”? I thought maybe a son or grandson, possibly seeing and hearing likenesses...but β€œbroad grim” says possibly not....
