Inner Child

Callow soul of a thousand eyes,
Flailing in sanguine it cries.
Armor conceals scars inside,
In shadows a monster will hide.
Β
Unfathomable in depths of a child,
Something savage, wickedly wild.
Debased by an abusive bastard,
Countless miserable years mastered.
Β
Disdain;Β scratchesΒ at the scab,
Foul wordsΒ poke and stab.
Festering an inner hate,
Forsaken, in thisΒ fragile state.
Β
So how do scapegoats learn to love?
FromΒ bruises and a cruel shove?
To humble beasts rendering them weak,
PresentΒ the other cheek.

Hello Lisa...
So how does this child learn to love?
From vicious bruises and a cruel shove?
To humble monsters making them weak,
Present them with the other cheek.
Great write...

The child grows up if it survives and wins the Victory?
yes I have learned to love and I have turned my back to abuse and hate
Wow an amazing and truthfully dark message, all we can truly do as poets is tell the story in a touching or haunting manner to make a difference but what few know are that there are ways that we can make a real difference...why do kids have to grow up in such a chaotic and corrupt world anyways 5 stars for the message and a great flow
