Interlude

I waited.... breathless and full of expectation
I was looking my best, well, the best I could be

I'm a little cold, in the cool night air
I feel a little silly and ridiculous just standing here

I should retreat to my 'comfy zone'
My joggers, a film and a takeaway

What a stupid thing to do
Standing under a statue just waiting for, God knows who

You approached with a smile and garage flowers
You seemed to feel as awkward as me

'Pizza and a chat' was all you said
I decided there and then to go with the flow

We ate, we chatted, we smiled and yes, we did flirt
I closed my 'comfy zone' door and felt alive

I would welcome your company again
For you made me feel such youthful pleasure

I will wait and see if you should ring
But for now, my night was bliss and I want nothing more than my interlude
