Into the Light

Subdued by the vanishing twilight

We take shelter in the holes of winter

Waiting

Standing

Never tired

Always restless

Under our thumb, the world.

Over our heads, eternity

It is we who are ready

For the pages which follow

For the unbroken branches

Once dormant.

To embrace, embark, disappear;

Transcend.

To the passionate embrace

Of Spring’s rebirth.

And when she comes

Over the endless songs,

Above the horizon

And whistles a dark, smoky tune

Of love

She will not take mercy

She will not write,

She will not speak,

She will not act,

But spectate,

But listen.

The hourglass blazes

In an endless inferno.

And it is she who must understand

The sorrowful rain

Of Autumn.

When the air is crisp,

When the leaves are drenched

And we are searching,

Scouring

For our next step,

For our next emergence

Out of the shadows,

Into the light.
