The Guitar

A young boy picks up a guitar

With it he sings a long and joyful tune

Because the world is beautiful

The pace is fast

The sky is blue

And life is wonderful.

The boy, a little older, picks up his guitar

He plays a short but enthusiastic melody

The world is fun

The pace is a little quick

Some clouds block the sky, but the sun is shining through

And life is pleasant

A young teenage boy picks up the guitar

He noodles around because he doesn't have time for a full song

The world is alright

The sky is still and plain

But life is worth living

A young man picks up a guitar

he hammers the hard, metal strings

and sings cries of heartbreak

The world is against him

The sun has set

And life is painful.

An older man sees a guitar across the room

he picks it up, and cries

then he steps outside

the world is angry

the sky is overcast in black

and soon everything else turns black too

Such a sad piece portraying the decline in the world, in our hearts, in our minds and eventually our lives.  Brilliantly written descriptive piece.
