It Seems Like Yesterday

Photograph is Linda’s and my wedding, June 5th, 1993
It seems like only yesterday, when I was a teenage boy;
Not worrying about the future, having only untold joy!
A test to get an A on, was all that worried me;
Or to have a date for Saturday, that all my friends would see!
.
A pickup game of basketball, in the Spring, was always fun;
Or going to the drag strip, for a quarter mile run!
Bowling on Saturday mornings, in a league for younger men;
A dance with a great DJ, every now and then!
.
In my Senior year, a girlfriend, puppy love was in the air;
She made my heart so happy, for her I truly cared!
We split when I turned nineteen, I went on a very wild rampage;
In the Summer of 1963, dating many girls of every age!
.
Then, my life flew by so quickly, three marriages, all ending bad;
Finally, I found my Soulmate, never again to be so sad!
If only we had met as teenagers, how different things would have been;
She would have given me stability, instead of a twenty-eight year tailspin!
.
I cry for those years without her, and all we would have done;
She would have been the mother of my children, each life, in her begun!
Oh Fate, why did you take so long, to join our hearts and Souls;
If you had hooked us up in high school, what a different story I’d have told!
.
.
Where did the time go
Life flew by so damn quickly
Without my Soulmate

My Dear Terry,
What more beautiful words could a poet hear, than someone telling them that they have missed reading their poems?
Thank you for that lovely comment.
Very Happy Holidays to you and your family too.
All my love,
Larry xxx
