it snows in the desert

When scorching sands doth kiss the sun's hot flame,
And cacti stand as guards in silent rows,
There comes a frost, a chill none can tame,
A snow that 'gainst the desert heat opposes.
Two hearts, like wanderers lost 'neath the burn,
Find in this frost a strange, sweet reprieve,
Where words doth falter, and cold glances turn,
In snow's soft touch, they start to believe.
For he, whose sting like desert creature lies,
Doth speak in gentle rhymes that winds convey,
And she, whose silence stars doth sympathize,
Finds voice in tempest, bright as break of day.
Thus love, in desert's paradox doth rest,
In snow's rare touch, their bond is truly blessed.

Ah you have turned your skilled hand to a sonnet. Very Shakespearian. I like the shortened words and yes I know they were a sort of requirement for syllable count but they are very effective as is "doth." Love the premise behind your poem of what I take to be the bond between heat and cold in the desert. Great last couplet but I really like the line "and cacti stand as guards in silent rows." Brilliant, as is the poem.Â
thank you bernie, i like writing this type of poem
