Just a test

Sometimes on your cell phone or on the TV
You will get an alarm and think that there's a problem
and then you get to find out with much relief
That's it’s just a test of the emergency alert system

It’s just to warn you of any impending disaster. 
Or if there were any disastrous events that had occurred
Sometimes in the workplace and schools, they would do an evacuation drill
And some of us will get upset when we don't concur

But drills like these are needed, though, to keep us safe and informed 
And it really does makes a lot of common sense
And we all should be very thankful for it
because it’s our first line of defense

But it's only for that purpose only
and It does not apply to human honesty and good faith
it does not apply to lying backbiting fake friendship
And the kind of people that we choose to be associated with

So, we have to use own judgment when coming to people we let into our circle
And perform our own " just a test
To know who is truly our friends 
And then stay away from all the rest

but at the same time, we have to be fair and don’t judge
for fingers will be pointing back at us
for we cannot throw stones in someone garden
if we don't clean our own yards first

friends will take you, but won’t bring you back
true words that my grandmother use to say
and fake friends would get you in trouble
and then leave you there and run away

everyone in the world today is carrying a weight on their shoulders
a weight that only them alone can contemplate
but that does not give them a reason
to be rude towards anyone seems to differentiate

not everything that glitters in your eyes
is going to be diamond and gold
without a little common sense and intuition
you're not going to be facing an easy world

and also, won’t it be nice to have a test for the government
to see their true colors before they get your votes
they say they care about the world’s problems
while sipping champagne on million dollars boats

"a little test sometimes we have to take 
before we choose who to vote in power
a test to follow our hearts instinct
and don't give seats in the government to haters

These are troubled difficult times today
And many hides their pains behind a smiling mask
Situations in the world will affect everyone
making simple things as getting food, an impossible task

The rich is getting richer every day
And poor " well we all knows how that goes
Living paycheck to paycheck 
Buying lottery tickets and saying " hey you never knows

That's why we have to apply that test
Because if you don't, it would be a mistake
Life is too short and stressful
To waste your precious time on fakes

And as we lift our fingers to point 
We got to point it at our self's too
For at that same time 
Someone else fingers will be pointing at you
