"Just like that"

"Just like that"

You had the camera's eye on your side
You captured a nation with a curious smile
When performing on stage, we laughed and cried
You were such a magical surprise

How I think about the tricks and jokes you told us
You were part of the magic circle
The joy you gave us, was all worth it
From your magic cloak and humped camel coat
You had me laughing all the way to your curtain close

The show must go on, but he was a national treasure
He loved wearing his red fez, just for comical measure
He raised eyebrows with his quick wit
He was legendary, but a funny old git

London weekend television, time for entertainment
No need for raised suspicion, he always laughed about ailments
A gentle giant who had the crowd in the palm of his hand
Everybody laughing, clapping thinking it's part of his act

You've guessed it! Tommy Cooper was the name
He proved it! Comedy was his game
You saw it! His last act on stage
He done what he loved, give him a pat on the back
But oh no... wait, he sadly passed away "just like that"
