Just Stand

So this is what it’s come to for you now?
Your spirit is scattered to the northern wind
I love you, even as you hide behind a cold stone
With distance and mountains between us
Scarlet O’Hara weeps since your departure;
‘Tomorrow is another day’ she said, glowing;
but your soul abides in the darkness of winter
As the season of singing and skylarking birds
Move in celebration for the dawning of spring
let me in, I’ll be your steady hand man; I can
Paint your toenails ten shades of black; or red
Feed you Lemongrass tea and biscuits in bed
Fetch you wood and keep your fire burning
Pleasure your body till you scream surrender
Mend your brokenness, guard your treasure
Arise! Saturday morning calls you out for play
So put on your blue jeans and just stand for me,

Wow Chris! Well done! Very well constructed, it is almost like my heart bled for you as I read this piece, I felt sad for you. I also felt your strength and determination to make tomorrow today. Excellent write my friend, anxious to see more!!
Sincerely,
XxX Melissa <3
Stunning brother!!........any woman would melt to receive these words as a gift...........somehow I felt the movie references underlying this..........with the Scarlett references etc........but try as I may.........I couldn't come up with the reference.........it's phrasing is just gorgeous Mamma Jamma!!...........the ever-impressive Mr. Longstreet!!............hugs...........T xx
I haven't come on in a while but I did for the first time today and was reminded why this is always a great site to visit when I get that old feeling, your words are what I would imagine every woman would want to hear and your metaphors kept me intrigued this was interestingly romantic. By the way thanks it's been so long since people actually looked at my work
your ally, CO
Thanks Melissa, appreciate the encouragement, and as far as 'more' I write on average about 3 or 4 poems a month lol, and that's only because I'm here, but I'll do my best, we'll see what happens, thanks again
Cheers T, yeah the reference to Scarlett O'Hara was about optimism, the character in the poem is caught in the miasma of negativity and O'Hara was the ultimate optimist, 'After all tomorrow is another day' she says that at the end of the movie, after Rhett Butler gives his famous line.... I wanted to engage the movie theme, somehow, dove into it mostly on faith, thanks for asking that question; not many people would, and I understand and appreciate your intent, believe me we're on the same wave-length, big brother, you're the best; much love
Hey Cherie, thanks for comment, yeah I've seen that movie a few times, it is iconic, top five ever made, perhaps, hard to tell with movies; very subjective....had the pleasure of reading; I would say almost two thirds of the book; it is long, but terrific, it has the word 'skylarking' in it; odd word, lol. means something very different in our modern age, but when I was a child it was a common expression in Trinidad; skylarking is 'playing' fooling....it's also a type of bird, if I'm not mistaken; love that word....yeah I'll try to write a few on movies, and famous poets as well....cheers sis, thanks again
Curious, first off I enjoy your work very much....thanks for your comment of encouragement, I can't always tell if my vision of a write corresponds with the readers' vision, so I know it is important to get feedback on a write, today I am very appreciative of your commentary...cheers
love poem...
Adorable write bro, love it ~ love Scarlett O'Hara , the old gone with the wind
you mesmerize with your love poem's, proud much :)
love and hugs your sis down under nardine xoxo
beautiful sensual x
Lily Mae, I'm honored, thank you for your kindness, my friend
Evrod, much thanks my brother, I enjoy writing romantic poetry, but I'm not at all romantic; weird and ironic, lol thanks for comments man
Gosh darn it, then I'll write more, nardine, I'll do it for the 'Cosmo family' and try to put away my cynical and dark nature, for a little while, your loving bro. from across the waves
Dude you said it man, what a beautiful woman is Vivien Leigh, lol I actually said is instead of was; the power of the silver screen, that is a great idea by the way, why not write a love song to her; I know she's dead and all, but Scarlett O'Hara is damn inspiring even now....hey my Caribs are calling me, they must be frozen....cheers me brother
