Kursk

Kursk

Naval exercise is what we do,
Something experienced by only a few,
The sea can be lonely and cruel sometimes,
You think you'll be home and you'll be all fine.

Disaster can happen without a clue,
A mix of kerosene and high test peroxide too,
Makes for an impressive and deadly blast,
How long do you think the crew will last?

Straight to the bottom the sub did go,
More mixing and fires then one final blow,
A place of work with lots of room,
Turned into a submarine sailors tomb.

Why wasn't help accepted I just don't know,
As the drama and death unfolded below,
Five days to finally accept help from the world,
A submarine cursed as death unfurled.

We are strong but we can make mistakes,
A western world viewed as one of hate,
We don't want to say with help being sent,
We'd rather save ourselves from embarrassment.

Thank you Cherie, myself being an ex submariner, it's scary enough being under the sea if you think about it, it's up there with my worst nightmares
