La Cucaracha
One year when we were snowbirds, going from Boston to Florida stay;
We needed to find an apartment, to rent for sixty days!
We wanted to be in Hollywood, where Linda’s father stayed;
For six months in the Winter, so we thought we had it made!
.
We asked him to find us a nice place, for February and for March;
A moderately priced one, so our pocketbooks weren’t parched!
He said he’d found a great one, with furniture brand new;
The monthly fee was perfect, our anticipation grew!
.
We got there on a Saturday, in the early afternoon;
But there were other tenants, that our joy decided ruin!
They were creepy cruddy cockroaches, a thousand more or so;
Linda screamed, “This is not acceptable, this dump has got to go”!
.
We tried to call the office, but they were gone till Monday morn;
We bought cans and cans of roach spray, so angry and forlorn!
Linda’s sister came on Sunday, flew down to stay with us;
We told her of our embarrassment, and how this was so unjust!
.
Their father had been bait switched, shown a very well-kept model;
We had prepaid all the money, their necks I wished to throttle!
After arguments and calls to Tallahassee, we got all our money back;
And moved into a much nicer place, safe from “La Cucaracha” attack!
.
.
La Cucaracha
Not very pleasant roommates
So we had to bail
