Last Wish
Diamond carbon black, hiding her beauty within,
Diamond soul cuts deep, when she’s hidden.
Beauty once seen, bright as the sun, Â
Beauty once lost, fades behind the reflection,
Leaving behind only deception.
She lives deep within her loneliness, leaving only one true desire left, to know love one more time, before her death.
One last love; one pure, real love is all she yearns for, it’s all she has left.
To have this will remind her of the diamond’s beauty; yet faded and unseen, could yet again shine bright fulfilling her dream.
Oh, how she dreams of those days of passion and fire,
When her ever so black and grey world, was bright with color.
When the ocean was her source of life, blue & green as bright as her eyes,
Inviting her in, to experience its powerful tides.
If only she knew her final desire, the diamond’s glisten behind blue eyes, desires last wish would be her demise.
Betrayal and lies, always comes with a price,
When loneliness desperately chooses compromise.
The beauty of youth and love,
Poetry, time spent, adorning her transcendently far above.
Above all, held up by a foundation, left with the feeling of impossibilities to fall,
Fall in love she did indeed, desires within again seen.
Nostalgia fills her with memories of love, once had as a child, riding high above on the carousel.
Numbness made again to feel, feelings again realized aren’t real.
Carnivals, Carousels, Cotton Candy, all just childlike fantasy.
Pretending, playing make- believe, leading her back to the house of mirrors, once again deceived.
Beauty again unseen, faded into the Mire,
Leaving her with the knowing, there was never any fire.
His hidden agenda, self-love, one-sided game to entice,
Suddenly feels as cold as ice.
His beauty, and love, only reveals his game, for her to take the blame.
Love used as a weapon, power shifts exposing deception.
Color gone; ocean black, no love to experience, only loneliness as before,
The ocean rejects her now, leaving her broken on the shore.
She makes the reach to the tide, one last time, before it retreats,
Smelling, tasting the salt of its resending invitation.
Quickly she sees her reflection; beauty lost; at deception’s cost.Â
She looks harder now to recognize, to realize; her own reflection, she’s staring down at her own rejection.Â
A monster of her own making, her soul free for the taking.Â
Gasps fill her, pain reaches her like a scalpel,
Bleeding, ripping at her heart, dissecting her, while ripping her apart.Â
As she lies there bleeding out, she wonders why,Â
And knows she will never know before she dies.Â
Footsteps in the sand approach her broken body on the shore,
She looks up at him one last time; tears held back, with bloodshot blue eyes, asking why.Â
The voice of the one she loves whispers I was never yours, and you were never mine.Â
You were only to pass the time.Â
How could the beauty love the beast, you were only my feast.Â
You must know desire & attraction doesn’t have to come from the outside,
Beauty faded - left unseen, can only fulfill me, but in a dream.Â
She looks down in shame, feeling the rejection; heart breaking from his deception.Â
Deceit, betrayal, his make-believe pursuit, fill her mind and soul, as she starts to feel her body finally let go,
You said I was yours & you were mine, but all the time you knew our end; yet you let it begin.Â
Now you say, I was never yours, yet you chose to start, when all along another had your heart.Â
The last experience of love she will ever know retreats, far from her far away,Â
As she watches him walk away; until he disappears, face within her hands, full of tears.Â
She finds the strength for one last glance, to fill her gaze full of the ocean,Â
While looking up into the diamond’s sun, beauty unspoken.
With what little strength remains, she lets out her final breath untamed.
Her body begins to shut down; the race lost not won,
Something whispers lovingly, it is done.
This whisper comes from above,Â
The voice of God saying, YOU were always loved.Â
