Poem -

The latter

As I struggle to reach the next step.
I ask why is life so hard.
Alone I turn to God for help.
And ask why was I dealt this card.

Slowly I began to climb.
Reaching a new height.
Forgetting my helper time.
And lost in my own sight.

As I look to rise on up.
My step crumbles and I fall.
Shattered like a porcelain cup.
I close my eyes and began to ball.

Lord why have you forgot me.
How could you let me fail.
What must I do for you to see.
I have not held tightly to the rail.

Lord I ask now that I may rise.
And stand tall in your name.
So that the heavens may be my prize.
And eternal peace I may claim.

Now up the steps I did run.
Slipping along the way.
But never forgetting the love of his son.
Walking my path his way.

For all that struggle in life.
With three nails and a wooden cross.
He will release you of your strife.
If only you let him be the boss.

Just share his love.
And pass it along.
And from above.
You will know peace an eternity long.
