Leaving on a jet plane

Leaving on a jet plane

the jetliner glides another
thousand miles away from you.
I curse its technology and
the distance
it carves between us.
Already my heart is aching
to see you once more.
I am wondering
by what alchemy
our hearts can be so close
yet the distance apart so far.
The intricate balance of
happiness and sadness
are tangled like a briar.
But it is sadness
I shall endure
with a smile
for I know
the love we share
will be like
a blue lagoon
in which
we will bathe
when I return.

And where did poor John end up in the end?  In an ocean of blue.  Life can be ironic. Good write.
