Legal in California

Legal in California

In my garden there's something that grows
A vibrant green with a bud that shows
My garden is special in a way
The smell in pungent during the day
I tend to it well and with tender care
with a sign.. " Trespassers Beware"
The plants within get plenty of food
Sometime I'll tend to it in the nude
And when it's time has come to be cut
I take it inside with all the doors shut
I trim it back until it's all pretty
You won't get anything like this in the city
Just hang it all up and let it dry
Then in a bowl and give it a try
With bellows of smoke rolling off the tongue
and a Pink Floyd song being sung
I enjoy my harvest and my labor
Then I go share it with my neighbor

Hi Jeanine,

This one kinda made me laugh but very well, was it constructed........ Grand sense of humor  attached Jeanine......Cali. always seems to be the start, (of all things), that appears to wonna come first...I resided in San Bernardino Ca. but departed back in 1995.........Really enjoyed  it there...Jim

Thanks Jim. I love California, I moved here from Arizona 10 years ago and haven't looked back. The new marijuana law seemed like a light hearted subject to write about and have some fun with, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Tony,

I think California stays in your blood once you've lived here. I just adore it. I'm happy it brought you back in time. As always many thanks. Peace ;)

I enjoyed this read, Jeanine, in Canada it should be totally legal soon, our prime minister brought it before parliament last week, no doubt it will be a 'cash cow' for the government, I know Colorado legalized it some time ago, a bit surprised California took as long as it did....yeah, I agree with Dblank, it is a bit overrated; we are from the same place in the Caribbean, where even 40 years ago you could grow it in the yard without problems, lol....what a cool write you posted here, poet!

You're right California seemed to drag it's feet a bit but, eventually got it done...Horrayyy. Colorado is reaping the reward financially like Washington....so your right about that too. Good luck in Canada, I hope they legalize it soon. Thanks so much ;)

You're welcome. I used to love Floyd & weed. Had to give up the weed though sadly

I really enjoyed this poem and your fabulous recount of tending to your garden. I have learnt in life, that finding your inner peace in something you love doing can be more valuable than any kind of wealth. Awesome write!
