Lessons I learned about love

Love is a flame that burns bright and true
but often leaves scars and a heart thats bruised too
It promises forever but sometimes departs
leaving us with tears and a shattered heart
It's a risk we take with every single fall
Hoping to find joy but often losing it all
It's a game we play with our hearts on the line
but sometimes the cost is a heart that's divine
It's a mystery that we can't fully define 
but one thing's for sure it's a pain that is all mine
Its a lesson learned through every single tear 
That love can be cruel and leave us in fear 
but still we love with all of our might
hoping hoping that one day everything will be alright
