Letter of Thanks

My Dearest Love, what can I say that would make you know how deeply I feel

You are so far away and I am terrified for you each moment, I pray

We have plans to have a home and family of our own, this will still be real

I can't imagine how it must be in another country, not knowing who to trust and what's next

I am crocheting you a cap and a lap robe, I know you won't need it there, but it waits for you here

It is getting close to Thanksgiving Day, and that is the one holiday that both of us love so

A time to give thanks for each other, our family and friends, and the food on our tables, the clothes on our back

Never forget how we pray together, as I do today, you are my life, my gift, my family and my friend, I give thanks

Thank you for caring for me, and thank you for caring for our country, when you receive this letter think of me and know

That you must get home safely, the war will always be, somewhere, someplace, and your place now is with me

Thanks to you and thanks to all of the men and women who are with you.

My love, my life, take care, come back soon, I will be here waiting by your bedside

It is starting to snow, and I am feeling cold, but warm inside knowing you will be discharged next month, just in time

I will have the table set with candlelight, flowers, the china you sent to me from Japan, the wine glasses ready to be filled

The turkey will be roasting, oyster dressing with raisins, your favorite pumkin pie, you will be thrilled

Thanks be today, thanks for tomorrow, most of all, I am so thankful and grateful for you, as I sigh
