Life Sentence

Life Sentence

Within your brain
an interrogation room

Your subconscious
the law enforcement

Your insecurities
the accused culprit

Your mind
the crime scene

Your heart
held hostage

Your loved ones
the many victims

Your subconscious
keeps whispering

“You did it”
but you refuse to
LISTEN

Eventually the whispers
resort to yelling
FRUSTRATION

You become
stressed out
TIRED

Does it really matter?
you ask yourself
REGARDLESS

With or without
a confession

You still are
serving a life sentence
GUILTY

Inner battle can really feel like this.  I walk about feeling riddled with guilt. I have often felt I am serving a life sentence. Really good write x
