Lights In White Satin

Lights In White Satin

They had a mind of their own, sometimes on or off,
although from dusk to dawn was probably enough;
a bit like you, couldn't be radiant all of the time,
but when you were switched on, you looked sublime.

Light up the room, took away the doom and gloom,
were you aware of sweeping with a new broom ?
I'm not like that, we can't all exude such persona,
we may even prefer just being a bit of a loner.

Then there was the 'satin,' what love came wrapped in,
someone said that 'they didn't usually do that sort of thing,'
long gone, but indelibly stored to provide a smile,
we wouldn't change a thing - been grinning all this while.

The sunrise came up as though someone flicked a switch,
if your smile's not shining, then there must be a glitch.
