Linda’s Elbow Grease

Linda’s Elbow Grease

Photograph of Linda’s Father and Step-Mother, looking chic at the dance

There is an area on a dance floor, that you never want to be;
One that comes too near to Linda, when she’s on a Boogie spree!
For she possesses no peripheral, and if you get too dangerously close;
You might end up with a clobbered jaw, or maybe a bloody nose!
.
For she swings her elbows freely, as they hone in on their prey;
I tell her, “watch your arms babe”, “I will”, she then will say!
But just a little while later, she is back to her old tricks;
They are menacing other dancers, destined to take their hurtful licks!
.
One night, we went out dancing, with her Father and Step-Mom;
We went to a senior venue, where every night is like a prom!
We were doing a hot merengue, I was spinning Linda wide;
When a lady got too close to her, and these words she loudly cried!
.
“Oh dear, I need to sit down, I am seeing many stars”;
“I should have avoided that young lady, whose arms stick out so far”!
Poor Linda felt so guilty, that we sat down for a little while;
But soon, her elbows flew again, I guess that’s just her style!
.
.
                           Beware of Linda
               Please give to her lots of space
                         Never rub elbows

Hi Keith,

I lost my Mom in 2003 too, on January 9th.  She had been a professional tap dancer in her earlier life, and danced till right before she died.
I glad my poem brought some happy visions of your late Mam, and made you laugh.
Thank you for your lovely comment.  I will reciprocate tomorrow, with one on a poem of yours.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Our Dear Leah,

They loved dressing to the nines, and going out to dance with all their friends, five or six times a week.  We were tired at the end of the night, but they were still raring to go.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx

Hi T,

Some day, when we finally get together, we'll have to put on some loud music, so I can show Linda in action.  Just don't get too close.
Lately, she has found different ways of using her elbow as a battering ram, me, her latest victim.

Love and Hurting Ribs,
Larry xxx
