LINGERING

LINGERING

The traces of you

That you left behind

Lingering

Always on my mind

I can't see you

But I know you're there

The scent of your perfume

Fills the air

I feel your presence

Watching over me

Hovering, lingering

So affectionately

But you must move on

And go towards the light

I can't keep you here

It just wouldn't be right

Like a wounded bird, now healed

I must release you, let you go

I kept holding on to you

When I should've set you free, long ago
